Senate Judiciary Passes HB 269

On March 17, 2022, HB 269 passed by a unanimous vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The legislation would eliminate the death penalty for individuals diagnosed with a severe mental illness.  The next step is for the legislation to be voted on by the full Senate.  If passed, it will go to Governor Beshear for his consideration.
